Hormone ‘makes women unfaithful’

Women with higher levels of a certain hormone have a higher chance of having affairs and are more confident of their attractiveness. Those with high levels of Oestradiol are inclined to be less content with their love life and more liable to sleep around a study from the Royal Society suggests.

“Attractive women may not only have more alternatives but also high standards that are difficult to satisfy, they may have fewer reasons to be committed to any partner if higher-quality potential mates are available.’’ said US psychologist Dr Katrina Durante.

Is your future partner all fingers and thumbs?

Women who want to discern if a future boy-friend will splash the cash need only look at the length of his fingers - or so a case study in Belgium has concluded.

If a big difference in length between ring and index finger exists, a man is more likely to be more aggressive and less likely to part with his cash, the study has concluded.

Relative finger lengths have long been linked to dominance - differences in finger length signal higher testosterone levels during development in the womb, leading to more dominant behaviour in late life - but this recent study has gone further to prove the assumption.

In the study a group of men were given ten Euros and asked how much they would like to give another person. The bigger difference in the ring and index finger length, the less money they gave away apparently.

Woman burnt in "witchcraft" killing

A young woman has been lashed naked to a pole and burned to death in a suspected voodoo killing in Papua New Guinea. It is thought to the be that latest in a series of 'sorcery killings' in the heart of the jungle. The girl was stripped naked and could not shout for assistance or resist as she was tightly strapped and her mouth gagged.

Hysteria over witchcraft is said to be rampant in parts of the country where black magic is still practised.

It is 2009 isn't it? :(
